Web Summit Has Permanently Changed Lisbon's November — Don't Get Caught Out
Since Web Summit relocated permanently to Lisbon in 2016, November has become the single most disrupted month in the city’s event calendar. Europe’s largest tech conference brings over 70,000 attendees to a city of just 550,000 — and the impact on hotels, venues, and transport is total. Prices across the city spike dramatically, many venues are locked into multi-year agreements with the event, and even properties with no direct involvement see their rates double or triple due to simple supply and demand. What catches most planners off guard is that the weeks either side of Web Summit are nearly as affected — corporate side events, satellite meetings, and fringe programming fill the gaps.
If you’re planning a Lisbon event in October or November, come to us as early as possible. We’ll tell you exactly where the availability still exists, which venues aren’t caught up in the Web Summit ecosystem, and whether shifting your dates by even a week could save you a significant amount of budget.
